Beware of Scams
The first rule when looking for someone to date internationally is to be on the lookout for scams.
Many people out there will pose as someone interested in dating you, simply in order to take advantage of you. He may tell you that he has a poor family, and might ask for money for help. She may tell you that she would like to visit but needs money to pay for a plane ticket. There are many variations on the scam theme, but if someone pushes you to send him or her money, then it is more than likely a scam.
You might have found a pretty woman on an international dating website, but you need to be honest with yourself" What is the likelihood that you can afford to visit the woman you are corresponding with? Can she afford to visit you? If things progress, will you be willing to move to be near her, or her to you? For example, dating a Russian woman and flying her over to visit frequently is expensive.
Consider that you may pay $2000 or more for a plane ticket there and back, not to mention other fees. These are a few of many personal issues to consider. Figuring out what you are willing to do from the beginning can save trouble and heartache later.
Before you consider dating someone from another country, be fully aware of any laws that might exist in their country that might be different from those where you live.
For example, if you wish to move to Canada to be with someone, you must have a sponsor. Your partner may sponsor you, but if not, someone else must. And getting married doesn't guarantee that your citizenship application will be approved.
Many international agencies can be found online that can help you meet foreign women and men.
Be careful in your selection and do some research for reviews about different websites. You want to look for a dating agency that reviews and perhaps even verifies the identity of the men and women it represents, and makes an effort to identify and put a stop to attempted scams. Ask for information regarding an agency's methods for verifying someone's identity.
